Having one day of play will help students get back on track and help remind the teacher and students what learning is all about. Sometimes school gets repetitive and students and teachers need a break from it. Creating exciting, fun, creative, engaging, and successful lesson plans can give you and the students a day that you really need. In order to do this you must really understand and connect with every student. I realized how important it is to have activities that benefit and will successfully teach every student in the classroom. This seems so basic, but hearing it and seeing it in action is so much different. I did not realize this until working with the students at UNITY and reading with a girl who's second language was English. I realized that I have to accommodate them in almost every activity or lesson I teach. Working with ESL students is more challenging than I thought.I need to constantly be on my toes and ready to change the lesson at any instance. Everyone was at different levels and had different difficulties when reading. When observing at UNITY, I realized I could not use the same reading strategies I could on every student. However, we need to be connecting and responding to it for it to be literacy. Literacy can be considered numerous things such as text, pictures, poems, posters, instagram, facebook, etc. Not only is it present in every subject, but all around us in our everyday lives as well. ![]() ![]() The first aha moment I experienced is with literacy.
